LVP Flooring Installation in Statesville NC: Costs, Brands and Install Time
What luxury vinyl plank costs installed in Statesville, how to compare brands by the specs that matter, and how most homes get new floors in one day, up to 2,500 sq ft.
Luxury vinyl plank has become the default floor for a reason, and Statesville homes are a good match for it. A lot of houses in Iredell County sit on crawl spaces, summers are humid, and families want something that handles dogs, kids and muddy boots without a second thought. LVP does all of that and looks like wood.
The questions we hear from Statesville homeowners are always the same three. What does it cost installed? Which brand should I buy? And how long will my house be torn up? This post answers all three with the numbers we see on real jobs.
The short version on time: most homes are installed in one day, up to 2,500 sq ft, when the subfloor is ready and the furniture is planned out.
1What LVP Installation Costs in Statesville
Here is where the money goes. These are typical market ranges for the Charlotte metro and Iredell County, meant for planning. Your exact price comes from the free in-home estimate, because subfloor condition and room layout change the labor more than anything else.
| Line item | What it covers | Typical range |
|---|---|---|
| LVP material | Rigid core plank, 12 to 22 mil wear layer, attached pad on most lines | $2.50 to $5.50 per sq ft |
| Installation labor | Layout, cutting, transitions and install over a prepared subfloor | $1.75 to $3.50 per sq ft |
| Removing old flooring | Carpet and pad, or glued vinyl, hauled away | $0.75 to $2.00 per sq ft |
| Subfloor leveling | Grinding high spots, patching low spots so planks lock tight | $0.50 to $3.00 per sq ft where needed |
| Trim and stairs | New baseboard or quarter round, stair treads and nosings | Quoted by linear foot and by step |
For a typical 1,200 square foot main floor in Statesville, that usually lands between $6,000 and $11,000 all in. Stairs, a lot of doorways and heavily uneven floors push it up. Open, simple rooms bring it down. We break it down further in how much LVP flooring costs.
2Comparing Brands Without Getting Lost
Walk into any showroom and you will see dozens of brands and hundreds of colors. The label on the box matters less than four specs printed on the back of it.
Wear layer
The clear top layer that takes the scratches. 12 mil is fine for a bedroom. 20 mil or more is what we suggest for kitchens, living areas and homes with large dogs.
Core type
Rigid SPC cores are dense and handle temperature swings. WPC cores feel softer underfoot. Both are waterproof. SPC is the more forgiving choice over an older crawl space floor.
Attached pad
A factory pad adds comfort and sound control. Adding a second pad under it can void the warranty and make the locking joints flex.
Warranty terms
Read what is covered. Residential warranties often require installation to the manufacturer spec, including subfloor flatness, which is why prep matters.
If you want to see which looks and product lines are popular right now, the best LVP flooring brands and looks walks through them. Our advice is to pick two or three samples, take them home, and look at them in your own light in the morning and the evening before deciding.
3Why Statesville Homes Need the Right Prep
Crawl spaces and humidity. Many homes around downtown Statesville and in the older neighborhoods near Mitchell Community College sit on crawl spaces. LVP itself is waterproof, but a damp crawl space can still cup the plywood underneath. We check moisture before we install and tell you if the crawl space needs attention first.
Older floors that are out of flat. Rigid planks bridge small dips, but most manufacturers want the floor within about 3/16 of an inch over 10 feet. Houses that have settled over the years often need grinding and patching in a few spots. Our list of subfloor mistakes that ruin new flooring explains why this step is not optional.
Newer slab homes. Subdivisions built on slab around the edges of town are usually the easiest installs. We still test the concrete for moisture before we lay the first row.

4How Install Day Works
This is what lets most Statesville homes get new floors in one day, up to 2,500 sq ft. The work happens before and after that day as much as during it.
Estimate and measure
We measure every room, check the subfloor and moisture, and confirm the product, transitions and trim. You get a written scope and a date.
Material delivery
Rigid core LVP needs far less acclimation than hardwood, but we still get it into the house ahead of time so it sits at room temperature.
Prep the night before
Small items, rugs and anything fragile come off the floors. Our crew moves the larger furniture, and we plan which rooms go first so you always have a place to be.
Install day
A full crew arrives in the morning. Old flooring out, leveling where needed, planks down, transitions and trim in, and a full cleanup before we leave.
Walkthrough
We walk every room with you, check every transition and door swing, and leave care instructions and leftover planks for future repairs.
One day is real, but it is earned in the estimate. If we measured right, checked the subfloor and planned the furniture, the crew spends the day installing floor instead of solving problems.

6FAQ
Can LVP go over my existing floor?
Often it can go over sheet vinyl or a flat, well-bonded tile, but carpet and pad always come out. Going over old layers raises the floor height at doors and transitions, so we check that at the estimate before recommending it.
Is LVP really waterproof?
The planks are. Water can still get under the floor at the edges if a leak is left sitting, which is why spills should be wiped up and appliance leaks fixed quickly. It is a big step up from laminate or hardwood in kitchens, baths and laundry rooms.
How long before I can walk on the new floor?
Right away. Floating LVP has no adhesive to cure. You can put furniture back the same evening, using felt pads under the legs.
Does LVP work in a house with a crawl space in Statesville?
Yes, and it is one of the best choices for it. We check moisture in the subfloor first. If readings are high, we will tell you to address the crawl space before installing any floor.
Do you install LVP on stairs?
Yes. Stairs are done tread by tread with matching nosings and take extra time, so they are priced by the step and sometimes scheduled for a second day.
