Tile flooring is what we install when a room has to handle water, grit and daily traffic and still look right ten years from now. Bella Construction sets porcelain, ceramic and natural stone across Charlotte and the towns around it, from a single bathroom to a full first floor.
Every job starts underneath. We check the subfloor for flex and flatness, correct what needs correcting, waterproof wet areas, then set each tile with full coverage below it. Layout, grout color and finish are decided with you before the first cut. On the technical side we follow the installation standards published by the Tile Council of North America.

Looking fresh right now
Large format porcelain. Slabs in the 24 by 48 inch range and up. Fewer grout lines read calmer and make a small room look bigger.
Warm, natural stone looks. Travertine, limestone and soft marble veining in warm tones, without the sealing and staining of real stone.
Matte and textured surfaces. Matte finishes hide water spots, feel safer underfoot and photograph beautifully.
Grout that disappears. Tight joints in a tone close to the tile. The floor reads as one surface instead of a grid.
Starting to look dated
Small glossy squares. Twelve by twelve gloss tile dates a room instantly and turns the floor into a grid of grout.
Heavy contrast grout. Dark grout on light tile was everywhere. It reads busy, and it shows every repair.
Faux slate and tumbled edges. Rough, uneven edges collect dirt and read early 2000s in an otherwise current home.
Bathrooms & Wet Rooms
Tile is the safest floor for water.
Water is what ends most floors early, and tile simply does not care. Set over the right waterproofing, a tile floor outlives everything else in the room.
What makes a tile floor last
Waterproofing under the tile. The membrane below matters more than the tile above. Showers and laundry rooms get it every time.
The right surface for wet areas. A textured or matte tile gives grip where water lands. Polished tile belongs elsewhere.
Sealed grout. Sealed joints resist staining and stay the color you picked instead of turning gray.
A flat subfloor first. Tile cracks when the floor beneath it flexes. We check and correct before the first tile goes down.

Porcelain is denser and absorbs almost no water, so it is the better choice for bathrooms, entryways and heavy traffic. Ceramic costs less and is fine for lighter use and walls.
Sometimes, and it depends on what is under there and how flat and solid it is. We check the subfloor during the estimate and tell you straight whether it can stay.
Most rooms are set in a day or two, then grout and cure time follow. You get the exact schedule in writing before we start.
It does read cooler than wood. Radiant heat mats can go under the tile if you want a warm bathroom floor, and that decision has to be made before we set anything.
Yes. Large format needs a very flat subfloor and the right setting method, and herringbone needs careful layout. Both are normal work for our crews.
