About quartzite as a countertop surface

Quartzite is harder than granite and far more scratch resistant than marble, which is why it has become the premium choice for kitchens. It still needs sealing, typically once a year, and it should be cleaned with a pH-neutral product. Some slabs sold as quartzite are actually softer dolomite, so we verify the material before quoting.

Choosing your slab

This is the part that cannot be done from a photo. Natural stone is quarried in blocks, and no
two slabs are identical. Veining shifts, background tone shifts, and a pattern that looks subtle
in a small sample can be dramatic across a ten-foot island. That is why we take clients to the
slab yard to select and tag the actual pieces that will go in their home.

We also lay out the seams with you before fabrication. On a large kitchen, where a seam falls
matters as much as the stone itself. Putting it in a low-traffic corner instead of the middle of
the island is a decision worth five minutes of your time.

Edges, thickness and cutouts for Blue Vein Quartzite countertops

Slabs come in two and three centimeter thickness. Edge profiles run from a simple eased square
to bevels, bullnose and mitered waterfall ends. Sink and cooktop cutouts are templated digitally
after the cabinets are set, which is why Blue Vein Quartzite countertops are one of the last items installed in a
remodel.
